A committee of concerned faculty and students at The University of Tampa will host a Take Back The Night event October 26, 2017, from 7pm to 9pm at the Vaughn Center Courtyard.
On Thursdays in late September and throughout October, educational events will share ways to prevent and recognize sexual assault and relationship violence.
The Oct. 26 event will feature guest speakers, a march, and activities such as “shattering the silence” with the breaking of glass plates.
From the Take Back The Night Foundation:
Take Back The Night represents the earliest world-wide stand against sexual violence, especially violence against women.
TBTN events began happening in the 1960s, and grew into hundreds of events on college campuses and in communities of all sizes and locations. The unifying theme was protest of sexual violence and support for victims.
The mission of the TBTN foundation is to “end sexual assault, domestic violence, sexual abuse and all other forms of sexual violence. TBTN strives to create safe communities and respectful relationships through awareness events and initiatives.”
